Entering Harvard, MA feels like an escape from a hectic world. The town boasts a rich history since its founding in 1658. Sprawling farms, vintage structures, a quaint main street, and amazing views cast the backdrop to this duathlon course. Since this race was a world championship qualifier for 2021, it was the perfect race to introduce Gavin to more peer competition. Gavin is accustomed to racing in the mountains of New Hampshire, but none of us expected this course would consist of steeper, longer climbs. Possessing a naturally competitive nature, Gavin attacked the climbs and enjoyed the sense of accomplishment. The duathlon consisted of ninety-nine racers– the most Gavin has competed against. Gavin placed twenty-eighth overall and fourth in his age group. If this race continues to be a world championship qualifier, it will definitely be on Gavin and Brody’s schedule in 2022.
