Hagerstown Duathlon 4/9/22

Our second race of the season required a road trip from MA to Hagerstown, MD.  Gavin and Brody competed in the sprint distance duathlon; Chase competed in the 5K.  All boys had a strong start.  Gavin and Brody zipped through both transitions and sprinted hard across the finish line.  Both of Gavin’s run splits were under 7 minutes, and he averaged a little over 20 mph on the bike.  This earned him 14th place (out of 95) overall, 14th place out of 66 men, and 1st place in his age category.  Brody placed 72nd overall (he is working on adapting to racing in colder weather) and 1st in his age category.  Chase had a strong run with an 8:56 pace.  He placed 6th out of 12 males and first in his age category.  With the commitment and determination the boys show, we know they will continue to improve their skills, garner lessons from each race, and enjoy the thrill of racing!  As a family, we enjoy traveling and experiencing new race venues.  On the way home, we ventured to Hershey, PA to enjoy breakfast at one of Mom’s favorite restaurants (First Watch).  No trip to Hershey would be complete without a stop at Chocolate World!  After a great weekend, we ended on a sweet note!
