This is the year of the bike! Gavin, Brody, Chase, and Mom acquired new bikes! Since Brody had a growth spurt during last winter, he needed a new bike when we started the 2021 racing season. Choices were limited, but he was fortunate to get a great Giant road bike. Mom was next. Her twenty year old trail bike was not conducive to road riding with the boys. Our bike shop had the perfect option, a Cannondale Synapse. She still isn’t as fast as the boys, but at least she can keep up a little better. Chase had been using his trail bike for three years. Since he has grown physically and mentally (craving a higher level of competition), he knew it was time to get a road bike. At one of our visits to Philbrick’s, Mom asked about a road bike for Chase. We were excited to learn that they had a used bike that was the perfect size for Chase (This was such a blessing from God!). After a full tune up, the Diamondback– complete with vibrant yellow tape– was ready for Chase. Chase calls it his crown jewel. Lastly, we picked up Gavin’s new Cervelo P-series 105 tri bike. Gavin was researching tri bikes for several months. At one of our summer time trips to Philbrick’s, Gavin began inspecting their Cervelo tri bikes. The staff is always fantastic! Gavin had a long, practical discussion with the staff and realized this is the bike for him. We saw God’s hand in this situation as well. Gavin had been praying about his bike choice. When we learned that Philbrick’s had one bike in stock that was Gavin’s size and his preferred color, we knew God brought the details together. Gavin saved for several months and made the final payment on 11/11. As we grew in size and ability, each of us was fortunate to get exactly what we needed.
