Northeast Park Duathlon 2023

Northeast Park Duathlon launched not only the 2023 racing season but also Gavin’s return to racing.  After tearing his ACL in May of 2022, Gavin strived for a strong recovery with this race in his sight.  The boys prepared for the damp 40 degree forecast, but knew they needed to exercise caution on the wet course.  Lined up together for the bunch sprint, they split up and settled into their own rhythms once on the course.  Although Gavin remained ahead of Brody and Chase throughout the race, Brody’s and Chase’s individual strengths kept them jockeying for position until they hit the bike course.  Gavin hoped to improve last year’s race time, but his time and placement was the same– a sign of a good recovery!  Finishing in a little over 55 minutes, Gavin placed 4th in his age category and 18th out of 144 racers.  Brody completed the race just under 1:07 and placed 5th in his age category.  Placing 6th in his age category, Chase finished the race in a little over 1:13.  Each had fun and enjoyed getting back in racing mode!
