This was a very special day for our family! Over five years ago, Mom sustained a life-altering injury that prevents her from running. Chase regretted that he wasn’t able to race with mom (due to his age at the time). Tri for Jimmy provided an excellent opportunity for our family. Mom and Chase were finallyContinue reading “Tri for Jimmy June 2022”

King Pine 2022
Although this is a race we’ve competed in for a couple years, this year we experienced some grey storm clouds—literally and figuratively. Unfortunately Gavin tore his ACL and medial meniscus which will prevent him from racing this summer. He’s approaching the situation with a great attitude while he trusts in God’s sovereignty. However, the greyContinue reading “King Pine 2022”

Northeast Park Duathlon 2/26/22
We started race season a little earlier this year! Winter training consisted of treadmill running at our local YMCA combined with some early morning rides before school, an occasional post-school ride, and weekend rides on indoor trainers. Gavin and Brody were ready to hit the race course again! Dad found the Northeast Park Duathlon inContinue reading “Northeast Park Duathlon 2/26/22”
Family, Friends, and Firsts
Early Thanksgiving morning, we welcomed what we hope will be a new tradition– a Thanksgiving morning 5k turkey trot. As we approached the YMCA in Cambridge, MD memories flooded our minds. The Firecracker Kids Triathlon is held at the same location. That race will always hold a special place in our hearts for many reasons.Continue reading “Family, Friends, and Firsts”
Run for the Troops 5k Andover, MA
Triathlons and duathlons for 2021 are done! However, we are excited for the boys to compete in a duathlon in February located in North Carolina. Snowy New England winters are not conducive to run training on the roads. Indoor equipment is a good substitute, but we wondered if there might be a better way. Dad,Continue reading “Run for the Troops 5k Andover, MA”
Bigger, Better Bikes
This is the year of the bike! Gavin, Brody, Chase, and Mom acquired new bikes! Since Brody had a growth spurt during last winter, he needed a new bike when we started the 2021 racing season. Choices were limited, but he was fortunate to get a great Giant road bike. Mom was next. Her twentyContinue reading “Bigger, Better Bikes”
Gavin’s First Half Marathon
Sunday, October 24 Gavin competed in his first half marathon. Since he is planning to compete in Olympic distance duathlons and sprint distance triathlons next season, he wanted to try a half marathon. Finding time to train was a slight challenge since it was the school soccer season, but Gavin’s dedicated and competitive spirit promptedContinue reading “Gavin’s First Half Marathon”
Wallis Sands Triathlon & Duathlon 2021
Although the Wallis Sands Triathlon & Duathlon is close to home, it still required a very early rise. The night before, Dad helped the boys remove their bikes from the indoor trainers and prepare them for road riding. While the world was sleeping, we rose, ate breakfast, racked the bikes, loaded the car, and hitContinue reading “Wallis Sands Triathlon & Duathlon 2021”
